Organizational Review Core Team Workshop I

The Core Team* for the organizational review activity met for the first time with ASME’s consultants from Arthur D. Little in a two day workshop at the Society’s headquarters on August 12-13, 2003. Progress was made on a number of organizational review processes as discussed below, but no conclusions were reached.

The workshop included a briefing by ADL on the results of their research to date; development of a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis of ASME, and a review of organizational contributors to ASME’s current situation. The team also discussed a vision for ASME’s future organization, and identified five key areas for benchmarking: industry outreach, communities of practice, globalization, marketing focus, and environmental scanning.

The Core Team’s next workshop will be held September 4-5 in New York, to assess continuing progress.
