The Constitution and By-Laws of the Society provide for all corporate members to vote in person or by proxy for the election of the Society's officers.

A proxy by which you may exercise your right as a corporate member of ASME International to vote on the above and participate in the Business Meeting of the International Mechanical Engineering Congress was mailed with the September issue of Mechanical Engineering Magazine. On the proxy portion of the form, you can indicate your vote for the election of Society officers and grant or withhold your proxy for any other business that is presented at the Business Meeting. If you prefer to vote in person on the election, you are invited to attend the Business Meeting of the Congress at the Washington Marriott in Wardman Park, Washington, DC, November 15, 2003. Please note that the deadline date for return of the proxy is November 3, 2003.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE
The Nominating Committee is charged by the Board of Governors with the responsibility of nominating members of experience, high standing, and active participation in the work of the Society to the various elective offices. Each year, the Nominating Committee invites proposals for nominations from the various organizational units of the Society and individual members. This year, at least two proposals were considered for each vacancy, and nominees were selected at the Nominating Committee meeting held during the 2003 Summer Annual Meeting. There are currently nine at-large members on the Board of Governors, with the terms of three to expire in June 2004.
