ASME.ORG Linking Policy and Logo Usage

The following policies for ASME.ORG link management will help to steer third-party and internal link requests. If you have any questions, please contact the ASME New Media Department at 212-591-8645.

Third Party Links to ASME.ORG
ASME International invites all companies to link to ASME.ORG so long as the link is in good faith and is not derogatory in nature. Any link to ASME.ORG or any of the ASME web pages should open in a new browser window. Links to ASME.ORG should be in the form of hypertext that says "ASME International" or "The American Society of Mechanical Engineers."

The ASME International logo is only used for official society business. The logo is not to be used by third parties or companies that do not conduct or are not conducting official ASME business.

Links to Third Parties from ASME.ORG

ASME International does not link to third party web sites or non-ASME entities as a general rule, except in cases of paid advertising banner ads and/or with content partners. ASME International does not generally provide reciprocal linking (i.e., trading links). However, there may be exceptions in the case of links to sites that are informational in nature. These sites may include travel, hotel, entertainment, and historical sites in the areas where ASME business is taking place.

The use of third party logos on ASME.ORG is prohibited unless the third party is in some way providing a service to ASME International or where logo inclusion is part of a contract negotiation. Under these circumstances, express permission from the ASME Public Information Department is required to use the logo.

Sufficient permission to link to a third party web site from ASME.ORG must be gained from the owners of the site prior to linking to it. If using a logo or graphic, permission must be gained from the owners of the logo or graphic prior to posting it on ASME.ORG.

If linking to a third party site where there is no formal agreement between ASME International and the third party, a disclaimer stating that "ASME International does not endorse external web sites" is required.

Advertising/Reciprocal Linking
Companies wishing to be listed on the ASME International web sites should contact the Mechanical Engineering magazine Advertising Department for standard Banner Advertising Rates. A list of the pages and rates for advertising can be found at www.asme.org/media_kit . ASME does not do reciprocal linking.

ASME International Affiliated Links
All affiliated ASME International groups (sections, regions, divisions, etc.) should link to ASME International in a prominent area from their web sites. Affiliated groups may use the official ASME International logo. The use of the logo should follow the guidelines set forth in the MS-73 manual. MS-73 Graphics Guidelines manuals can be requested by contacting the Public Information Department at 212-591-7740.

General Rules
The ASME International logo must be used in the following ways:
