Data warehousing gets a shot in the arm [December 05, 2003]
There’s a sea change taking place right before our eyes. Real-time (or close to real-time) data access, rather than batched
monthly reports derived from a data warehouse, is helping companies tailor business processes to suit customers’ evolving
needs. And that’s only half of the change. The second half is that real-time access across the enterprise is giving companies

At InfoWorld's CTO Forum in April, BEA's Adam Bosworth talked about missing pieces of the Web services infrastructure. Some
were usual suspects: reliable asynchronous transactions, more flexible programming techniques. But one of the items on Bosworth's

of messages. While the messages are in flight, we'll need new kinds of dynamic message stores to index, search, monitor, and
correlate them.
